MAINTENANCE
If your generator fails to function in a power outage,
it is often due to a minor problem that could have
been avoided through routine maintenance. The best
way to ensure that your generator will function properly
when the lights go out is to conduct routine maintenance
checks on it yourself. Simple things to check include:
- The battery. If generator is clicking but
not turning over, you may have a dead battery.
The average life of a battery is about 4 years,
depending on the size of your generator.
- Low oil. Check the oil dipstick to make
sure you have an adequate amount of oil to run
the machine.
- If you have a water-cooled engine, make
sure the radiator level is totally full.
- Make sure you have enough fuel. You need
at least one third of the tank's capacity in
order for the unit to start.
If you have checked these things and your generator
still isn't working, feel free to call us for assistance.
